Physician Services for Columbia County Jail

Buyer seeks a qualified provider to deliver physician services at the Columbia County Jail. The provider will be responsible for medical direction and overall coordination of medical care in the facility. Services include conducting onsite clinics twice weekly and providing 24/7 on-call telephone consultation. The initial contract period is one year with option to extend to three years upon mutual agreement.

• 7/8/2025 - Last day for submitting written inquiries
• 7/10/2025 - Supplements or revisions to RFP posted
• 7/17/2025 - RFP opening
• 7/17/2025 - Proposal Due Date
• 11/12/2025 - Contract can be signed after budget adoption
• 1/1/2026 - Contract start date

• Licensed to practice medicine in Wisconsin
• In good standing with WI Medical Examining Board
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate
• Professional liability insurance per Wis. Stat. §655.23
• Ability to pass background check

• Conduct onsite clinics two days per week
• Provide 24/7 telephone on-call medical consultation services
• Oversee jail's medical records system
• Prescribe medications based on medical judgment
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and DOC Ch. 350
• Report major medical concerns to Jail Administration
• Prepare annual reports when requested
• Maintain appropriate professional liability insurance
• Direct and coordinate overall medical care in facility
• Submit to annual background checks
• May retain additional physicians, PAs, or APNPs
• Manage proper preparation, storage, and retrieval of medical records
• Ensure HIPAA compliance in medical record handling
• Maintain appropriate licensure and DEA certification
• Coordinate with jail staff on medical questions
• Ensure quality of medical services provided
• Work within County-provided medical supplies system
• Coordinate with County's medical billing system
• Maintain availability for scheduled clinic times
• Pass initial background check before service begins
