  • Personnel must have appropriate licenses and training
  • Personnel must pass criminal record check, drug test, and tuberculosis test
  • Staff must have up-to-date immunization records
  • Provide medical care and mental health services at correctional facility
  • Complete health appraisals within 14 days of inmate arrival
  • Develop and administer individualized medical and mental health treatment plans
  • Manage prescription medications including procurement, dispensing, and disposal
  • Conduct daily sick calls to evaluate and treat inmates
  • Manage detoxification protocols for substance-dependent inmates
  • Arrange for off-site treatment when necessary
  • Coordinate mental health evaluations and suicide prevention services
  • Submit monthly reports on medical and mental health statistics
  • Maintain complete medical records for all inmates in compliance with HIPAA
  • Conduct continuous quality improvement (CQI) meetings and reviews
  • Provide personnel including Health Services Administrator, nurses, and mental health professionals
  • Staff the Youth Home with medical services twice weekly
  • Administer laboratory testing and diagnostic services
  • Verify inmate health insurance and assist with enrollment in eligible programs
  • Respond to medical emergencies 24/7/365
  • Collect specimens for physical evidence when requested
  • Train corrections officers on basic medical procedures
  • Establish and maintain written healthcare policies and procedures
  • Process inmate grievances related to medical and mental health care
