Buyer seeks a contractor to provide professional development and technical assistance for the Ohio Strong Start in Science program. The contractor will help 20 Ohio institutions implement corequisite support strategies for gateway science courses including biology, chemistry, and anatomy & physiology. Services include facilitating meetings, developing professional development series, and providing ongoing technical assistance to faculty and administrators. The goal is to increase student momentum towards degrees, decrease dropout from STEM programs, and reduce failure rates in gateway science courses.

  • Develop and present PD series on curricular and instructional issues in corequisite support
  • Create PD series on systemic issues for faculty and administrators
  • Provide technical assistance via virtual sessions twice monthly
  • Deliver specialized support for Small Rural Colleges Cohort monthly
  • Address challenges specific to gateway science courses with high DFWI rates
  • Implement evidence-based corequisite approaches for science courses
  • Support redesign of freshman-level science courses with corequisite remedial preparation
  • Guide alignment of redesigned courses to appropriate majors and programs
  • Share best practices in multiple measures placement procedures
