Association of Public Health Laboratories

Buyer seeks to designate up to four CaliciNet certified public health laboratories as CaliciNet Outbreak Support Centers. These centers will enhance national norovirus surveillance by sequencing norovirus-positive stool specimens from outbreaks reported by non-certified laboratories. This initiative aims to expand the reach of the U.S. norovirus surveillance network to facilitate comprehensive outbreak monitoring and timely public health response.

• 6/18/2025 - Final Review Completed
• 7/1/2025 - Contract Start Date
• 6/30/2026 - Contract End Date

• Must be a CaliciNet certified laboratory
• Have at least 1 CaliciNet certified personnel
• Have sufficient equipment, space and workforce capacity
• Have established capacity for Sanger and/or NGS sequencing
• Ability to collect required metadata
• Can retain clinical specimens for up to 3 years

• Sequence norovirus-positive outbreak specimens from non-certified laboratories
• Maintain regular communication with supported agencies
• Complete sequencing within 10 business days of receiving samples
• Publish sequencing data to CaliciNet within specified timeframes
• Provide quarterly reporting to APHL and CDC
• Maintain CaliciNet-certified personnel
• Provide shipping information to supporting states
• Participate in biennial proficiency testing
• Conduct quality checks at key workflow stages
• Retain clinical specimens for up to 3 years
