Expanding Harm Reduction Services for Priority Populations Who Use Drugs

Buyer seeks to fund programs providing harm reduction services for people who use drugs among two priority populations: Adolescents/Young Adults (12-24) and Veterans. Buyer will fund 2-4 programs that can implement evidence-based harm reduction strategies with a health equity framework. Programs must employ peer specialists and address social determinants of health. Proposed projects should focus on reducing overdose deaths and connecting clients to medical, mental health, and social services.

- Must be a not-for-profit agency, hospital, health system, or authorized organization in NY
- Identify and serve clients at risk for drug overdose
- Connect with Drug User Health Hubs/Syringe Exchange Programs
- Include people who use drugs in program development
- Employ peer specialists with lived experience
- Develop support systems for peers and staff
- Coordinate services with other health providers
- Collaborate with local health departments
- Engage with individuals who recently experienced overdose
- Participate in program outcomes assessment
- Collect and report client data through AIRS system
