Buyer seeks a biosafety consultant to assist in overseeing and regulating biological research laboratories in Boston. The consultant will inspect BSL-4/ABSL-4 facilities, review work practices and documents, evaluate research protocols, and facilitate committee meetings. They will provide guidance on facility operations and ensure compliance with biosafety regulations. The consultant will work closely with the buyer's Biosafety Program and the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories.

• Master's or doctorate degree in biomedical sciences, public health, or relevant scientific field
• Training and certification to enter BSL-4/ABSL-4 lab space
• Minimum 2 years experience working in BSL-4/ABSL-4 facilities
• Knowledge of operation and regulation of BSL-4/ABSL-4 facilities in the United States
• Federal Select Agent Program security clearance
• Ability to pass a background check to access a Biosafety Level 4 facility

• Inspect BSL-4/ABSL-4 facility and submit written inspection reports
• Review NEIDL work practices, documents, and records
• Review new BSL-3/ABSL-3 and BSL-4/ABSL-4 research projects and protocol amendments
• Facilitate Boston Biosafety Committee meetings and submit written summaries
• Facilitate Boston Biosafety Working Group meetings and submit written summaries
• Review institutional training modules and records
• Verify compliance with written institutional policies and SOPs
• Provide guidance on NEIDL facility operations
• Participate in on-site laboratory inspections
• Hold regular meetings with NEIDL and BPHC staff
