Buyer seeks a service provider to recycle and beneficially reuse mattresses and box springs collected at Trash Recycling Centers and landfills. The provider must handle approximately 40,000 mattresses and box springs yearly, collecting from 12 designated locations across the county. Buyer currently receives about 2,000 mattresses and box springs monthly which cause complications when landfilled due to poor compaction. Recycling would avoid these issues while promoting waste diversion and supporting the Zero Waste Master Plan.

• Collect mattresses and box springs from 12 designated locations
• Transport collected items to recycling facility
• Process approximately 40,000 mattresses/box springs yearly
• Handle wet, dry, and soiled mattresses/box springs
• Provide containers at county facilities for collection
• Remove items Monday-Friday between 7am-4pm
• Clear all sites by Friday each week
• Implement quality control for recycled products
• Document final destination of recycled materials
• Demonstrate environmental safety of recycling process
• Provide regulatory compliance documentation
• Manage recycling process flow and characterization
• Test recycled products for safety
• Furnish all labor, materials, equipment for operations
• Develop end markets for recycled materials
• Handle unsegregated mattresses and box springs
• Maintain capacity to service all county locations
• Document process to avoid environmental/health impacts
• Participate in Industry Day workshop discussions
• Support county's Zero Waste Master Plan goals
