Iowa Department of Transportation

The buyer seeks to enter into a professional services contract with one or two companies to provide staffing solutions for Resident Construction Engineer duties. The work will be performed in DOT Districts 3 and 4, specifically in the Creston and Cherokee Resident offices. The embedded consultant(s) will oversee construction projects, evaluate infrastructure, provide technical consultation, and represent the department in various meetings. The contract is expected to last up to three years.

• Active Iowa professional engineering license
• Valid Iowa driver's license
• Minimum three years of full-time professional work experience in transportation or civil engineering
• One year of project management experience

• Oversee and administer highway and structure construction
• Evaluate roadways, bridges, and highway infrastructure
• Provide consultation for internal and external customers
• Respond to inquiries and resolve complaints on technical issues
• Participate in public hearings and meetings
• Develop and recommend changes to contracts
• Ensure compliance with contracts and project concepts
• Identify maintenance, repair, and operational needs
• Assist staff in timely solutions to construction problems
• Conduct project site visits to evaluate contract compliance
