BARD Email Support to NLS Patrons and Libraries

The buyer seeks a contractor to provide end user support for the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) Braille Audio Reading Download (BARD) website, mobile app, and Braille eReader device. Support will be provided via email and phone to resolve user issues, assist with registration, and perform administrative tasks. The contractor will also test system upgrades, generate reports, and create support content.

- Staff must be blind or print disabled
- Proficiency in iPhone/iPad, Android devices, and accessibility software
- Proficiency in BARD applications, NLS Digital Talking Book Player, and refreshable braille displays
- Minimum 2 years experience using braille displays
- Ability to read minimum 150 contracted braille words per minute
- Provide email and phone support for BARD website, mobile app, and Braille eReader
- Resolve user-identified problems with BARD systems and NLS-produced materials
- Assist patrons with BARD registration and account management
- Test periodic upgrades for accessibility issues
- Collect support statistics and generate monthly reports
- Create postings for BARD support listserv
- Perform administrative actions like password resets
- Participate in weekly conference calls with NLS
- Monitor and manage nlsdownload@loc.gov email account
- Provide support across 12-hour period Monday through Friday
