Buyer seeks a Research Consultant to support a Cultural & Outdoor Asset Mapping study from September 2024 to July 2026. The consultant will assist with planning, training, research design, documentation, and facilitation of community engagement sessions. Buyer aims to identify tangible and intangible cultural assets to inform economic development strategies and preserve cultural heritage. The project will result in a database of assets and recommendations for equitable development and policy changes.

- Deep knowledge of qualitative research in arts, culture, heritage, and land-based practices
- Experience designing and conducting community engagement processes
- Expert-level knowledge of cultural asset mapping
- Commitment to trust-building and navigating complex cultural communities
- Ability to track and document complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Collaborate on project planning with Taos County Staff and ERC Fellow
- Define scope of cultural and outdoor assets to be mapped
- Create community and study agreements rooted in equity and trust-building
- Design and attend on-site visits in Taos County
- Facilitate Advisory Group working sessions
- Assist in design and development of project website
- Provide progress updates and synthesize study information
- Develop recommendations for equitable economic development and policy changes
