Technical Assistance Funding to Develop Grid Modernization Projects

Buyer is providing funding for technical assistance to municipally owned electric utilities, rural electric cooperatives, and small electric providers to develop grid modernization projects. Funding can be used for technical analyses, implementation planning, grant writing, and metrics reporting development. Projects must align with DOE-approved categories and aim to improve grid resilience, flexibility, reliability, and reduce emissions.
- 12/1/2027 - Proposal Due Date
- Must not sell more than 4,000,000 MWh of electricity per year
- Must be an eligible entity as defined by DOE
- Perform technical analyses to evaluate potential grid modernization projects
- Develop implementation plans for grid modernization projects
- Provide grant writing assistance for implementation funding
- Develop metrics reporting system to evaluate project success
- Conduct studies to assess design and effectiveness of eligible project types
- Analyze impacts on grid resilience and reliability
- Identify opportunities to improve grid flexibility and reduce emissions
- Evaluate benefits to disadvantaged communities
- Prepare final report covering all aspects of the work performed
- Manage subcontractors and project budget/schedule
